Kolkata: Presents India’s treasury of finest textiles

Questerra’s Indian Contemporary Intensive, as the name suggests is an experience for creators to witness the manner in which Indian fabrics have fit into today’s contemporary designs.

Indian fabric has its partisans scattered world over, hence it has been globalized. Come and explore the finery of Indian textiles in the cities of Delhi, Varanasi and Kolkata.

After Varanasi and all its beauty, Kolkata is next on the list. The city opens up to a still of the Howrah Bridge tracing the outline and sweetens lives with the goodness of Mishti Doi has a fashion significance not many know off. Operating as one of the largest export hubs of the country the city has a lot to learn from. Traditional Indian drapery is spoken of in many cities, but here you’ll get a chance to run your fingers through them and feel the goodness of rich fabric. The day is dedicated to those practical experiences. You’ve admired those intricate embroidery patterns, but today you will attend a workshop where you will go about learning how to needle those embroideries for your own collections. The second half of the day brings with it the joys of block printing. Sign off for the day, with Darshan Shah’s narrative on her journey in fashion and she goes on to emphasize the importance of being sustainable and ethical fashion, and goes on to educate you on the practices you could follow.

Day 07

Barabazar

 

Your visit to Kolkata will be incomplete without visiting Bura Bazaar.  It is one stop for all your textile needs, and an apt way to establish those connects. The visuals painted by the Bazaar are an inspiration in itself. The intensive has now come to a close, but before that there’s going to be a round of presentations. Each of your presentations should take us through your design journey in the course of the intensive.

 

In a nutshell: Days on the intensive come with learning’s that will inspire you to create work that perhaps seemed like a bleak possibility before. The Intensive is a one-stop destination for all your Fashion knowledge. Curated by Deekshita Jain, a designer who is here to change the fashion scene with her label phd. The Intensive is a journey from conceptualization to creation,  that comes from inspiration derived in the course of the journey. You will return back with work your proud to showcase. The lineup of activities will put your creativity to test, group sessions will result in out of the box thinking that will leave you pleasantly surprised and the expert sessions will fill you with astonishment on understanding the inner aspects on all things Fashion.
